Week 17: Mr. Dub Wins 7th In A Row
Chelsea's Dagger upsets Team Weinstein and rockets into 8th place.
Week 17 Recap
Mr. Dub extends his win streak to 7-straight, a league best this season, and remains atop the table with .824 winning percentage. His win was highlighted by a 117 point Monday night that essentially locked out Puck Me Up from mounting any type of formidable comeback over the course of the week. Mr. Dub will be one of the team’s to beat in the playoffs as he sets out for Cup number 4! Paige’s loss was a devastating one, as she now sits 3-wins back of 10th place with only 5-weeks to play. Her playoffs hopes are quickly fading.
Chelsea’s Dagger was the other huge story of the week as Ian captured his 3rd straight win and now sits in 8th place, also known as A PLAYOFF SPOT! Ian has won 6 of his last 8 matchups and has upset Snow Cones and Team Weinstein in back-to-back weeks. The Michigan Man is currently having the best season of his 13-year career and will now be in control of his own destiny for playoff qualification. He faces the second-half the Weinstein gauntlet, Mr. Dub, this week and ends the year with matchups against The Bad Brew, Team Wong, Blitzkrieg, and Philly’s Elite. If Ian takes care of business, he will be in the playoffs for the first time in team history! Wow.
Speaking of Team Wong and Philly’s Elite, Kendall and Jordan both suffered defeat at the hands of Bugida Jones and my Blitzkrieg, respectively. They are now in 9th and 10th place and separated by a whopping ONE POINT. Unfortunately for them, Kendall and Jordan are both over 400 points back of 8th place Chelsea’s Dagger with the same record, which means if they want to lock up a playoff spot, it will be essential to finish with a better record than Ian because of his large points advantage. We have a quite a final 5 weeks on are hands, folks. The playoff race is juicier than ever!
In last week’s featured matchup, Katelyn narrowly defeated rival Lexie by 14 points and improves to 5-1 all-time against our defending champion. Lexie’s Legit and Unleash the Fury sit at 5th and 6th in standings and could very well meet again come playoff time.
Snow Cones returned to the win column after a 2-week skid by defeating Eric’s Lou’s Still Clueless. With a 3-win advantage over 3rd place, the Swiss Machine has all but locked up a playoff spot and is looking strong as he hunts down his 2nd Maryland All-Stars Cup.
Lastly, we had massive movement at the basement of the league! In the loser showdown between the Washington Hockey Team and The Bad Brew, Zach prevailed to capture his first win since the very first week of the regular season (oooooh my)! With that win, he snaps his league record 15-game losing streak and moves up into 13th place. Henry falls to dead last and is currently riding a 13-game losing streak. Shockingly, he could very well beat (lose?) Zach’s new record set just this year. Oof.
Here are the full standings after 17 weeks of play:
Week 18 Preview
Week 18 is highlighted by Lexie’s Legit vs. Philly’s Elite. It is safe to say that this is a must win for Jordan’s Philly’s Elite. A 3rd straight loss with the current points gap to 8th place would be detrimental to his playoff dreams. Lexie will also be looking to bounce back after her narrow defeat to Katelyn. With 3rd-10th place being so tight, the result of this battle will have massive implications for the playoffs!
