Week 1: The Buchnevich Show
Red hot Pavel Buchnevich powers Team Weinstein into first place.
Week 1 Recap
After the first week of regular season play, Team Weinstein leads the way thanks to a dominant week from Pavel Buchnevich! The streaky winger helped Mark get out to an early lead over the rest of the league, something he has made a habit of the last few seasons. Mark is closely trailed by Katelyn and Kendall, both of whom also had very impressive high scoring starts to the year. Unleash the Fury is ready for a trip back to the finals.
Our defending champion, Lexie’s Legit, was defeated by Team Wong in the week 1 Featured Matchup! It was a very tight battle all week and came down to a big weekend performance from Kendall. The California King is on the hunt for glory this year and his week 1 victory is quite the statement. Lexie’s summer of celebration, on the other hand, comes crashing to a close!
Here are the full standings after one week of play:
Week 2 Preview
With just one more week to go before Rivalry Week, week 2 will begin to separate the adults from the kids. Use week 2 to evaluate your rosters and decide who is underperforming. Next week it all pops off!
Week 2 is headlined by Philly’s Elite vs. The Bad Brew! Zach had an impressive statement win against myself that has put the whole league on notice. He is back and here to win. Jordan is also still searching for his first league championship and has a quality team to do it. This should be a very intense, high scoring matchup. Can’t wait!
Commish Notes
This week, a few of you reached out about the poorly designed new Yahoo fantasy app. It is very disappointing, I agree. Hopefully they make some changes in the coming weeks. Until then, check out this cool free browser extension that adds player information like lines and powerplay status directly into the Yahoo website. It’ll save you a trip to Daily Faceoff.
I also exported league stats, standings, and schedules from Yahoo directly to marylandallstars.com/p/stats so you can avoid the app and Yahoo website as much as possible. I’ll update these pages every week.
Best of luck during week 2! Don’t forget to set your lineups. Hope those of you who observed Yom Kippur had an easy fast.
